Nitida Wild Child Sauvignon Blanc 2025
Nitida Wine Farm is a family-owned estate nestled in the cool hills of Durbanville, just north of Cape Town. Benefiting from the region's cooling Atlantic breezes and ancient decomposed granite soils, the vineyards produce grapes with excellent natural acidity and concentrated flavour. The Wild Child Sauvignon Blanc is a distinctive expression of the variety, moving beyond the classic crisp style through careful barrel fermentation and maturation. Rather than overwhelming the fruit, the subtle oak adds texture and complexity while allowing the vibrant Durbanville fruit and freshness to remain at the forefront. It's a thoughtful interpretation of Sauvignon Blanc that balances richness with precision, reflecting Nitida's hands-on philosophy of crafting wines with personality.
Colour: Bright pale straw with flashes of green, showing youthful vibrancy and brilliant clarity.
Nose: Aromas of guava, granadilla and grapefruit rise first, followed by notes of green pepper, lime zest, wildflowers and a gentle creamy undertone from barrel fermentation.
Palate: Fuller in style than a classic crisp Sauvignon Blanc, with layers of pineapple, gooseberry and citrus complemented by a rounded, textured mouthfeel. Fresh acidity keeps the wine lively, while restrained oak adds breadth and subtle complexity without masking the fruit.
Finish: Long and clean, finishing with grapefruit pith, tropical fruit, a hint of honeycomb and a lingering savoury mineral note.
- Food Pairing : Nitida Wild Child Sauvignon Blanc 2025 is an excellent partner for richer seafood and poultry dishes where freshness is still essential. Try it with grilled line fish, butter-fried sole with toasted almonds, creamy chicken pasta, roast pork with apple sauce or a warm goats' cheese tart. The wine's bright acidity cuts through creamy sauces and richer textures, while its fuller body and subtle oak stand up beautifully to roasted flavours and savoury herbs, making it a versatile choice for relaxed lunches or elegant dinners.
