Jordan Outlier Sauvignon Blanc 2025
Jordan Wine Estate is situated in the Stellenbosch Kloof, where cooling maritime influences from False Bay create ideal conditions for growing Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyards used for Jordan Outlier Sauvignon Blanc 2025 are planted on south-facing slopes between 220 and 365 metres above sea level, allowing the grapes to retain freshness while achieving full flavour development. The vines, some around 40 years old, grow in decomposed granite-derived Glenrosa and Hutton soils, contributing concentration and complexity. Owned by Gary and Kathy Jordan, the estate has built its reputation on matching grape varieties to their optimum vineyard sites. Jordan's philosophy combines scientific precision with a deep respect for terroir, producing wines that balance fruit purity with structure. The Outlier Sauvignon Blanc stands apart from more conventional styles through barrel fermentation, adding texture and depth while preserving the freshness and linear character that Stellenbosch Sauvignon Blanc is known for.
Colour: Bright straw with youthful green highlights.
Nose: Ripe gooseberry, fig and tropical fruit aromas lead the bouquet, followed by subtle notes of vanilla, gentle oak spice and a faint smoky complexity from barrel fermentation.
Palate: Generous and textured, showing layers of tropical fruit, ripe fig and citrus. Barrel fermentation adds weight and complexity without overshadowing the fruit. Fresh acidity provides balance and keeps the palate focused, while the wine maintains a distinct Stellenbosch freshness beneath its richer style.
Finish: Long and concentrated, with lingering tropical fruit, citrus peel and subtle oak-derived spice carrying through to a savoury finish.
- Food Pairing : The Jordan Outlier Sauvignon Blanc 2025 has more texture and weight than a typical Sauvignon Blanc, making it particularly versatile at the table. It pairs beautifully with grilled kingklip, yellowtail on the braai, roast chicken with herbs, creamy seafood pasta or pork loin with apple sauce. The wine's bright acidity refreshes richer dishes, while the barrel-fermented character complements smoky, grilled flavours and creamy textures without overwhelming delicate ingredients. Its combination of freshness and depth makes it especially suited to seafood and poultry dishes that feature buttery or herb-driven sauces.
- Drink before: Cellaring potential: Drink now for its vibrant fruit expression or cellar for 3–5 years to allow further integration of the oak and savoury complexity.
