Cape of Good Hope Altima Sauvignon Blanc 2025
Sauvignon Blanc
Description
Altima Estate, part of the Cape of Good Hope portfolio within the Anthonij Rupert Wyne family, sits high in the secluded Elandskloof valley of the Western Cape. Sheltered by mountains at 600–800 m and cooled by altitude and shade, these vineyards develop slow ripening, high natural acidity and concentrated flavour in their fruit - ideal conditions for Sauvignon Blanc. Soils of decomposed shale and the cool continental influence give Altima wines clarity and mineral tension. The team crafts this Sauvignon Blanc with attention to fruit purity, fermenting in stainless steel and nurturing texture with several months on fine lees, resulting in a wine that reflects both place and thoughtful winemaking.
Colour: Pale straw with subtle green highlights, showing youthful vibrancy and clarity in the glass.
Nose: Bright and focused, with lemon and grapefruit zest at the forefront, layered with passion fruit and gooseberry aromas. A thread of flinty minerality and hints of cut grass add intriguing complexity.
Palate: Crisp and lively, the palate delivers fresh citrus flavours and pure fruit expression. Zesty acidity gives structure, while a touch of lees texture adds gentle depth without heaviness. Mineral notes weave through, balancing the vibrant fruit.
Finish: Clean and lingering, with citrus pith and a lasting hint of flint that invites another sip.
