Wine: Painted Wolf Pictus III (Shiraz: 36% Mourvedre: 32% Grenache: 32%)

Why Claude liked it: A full bodied wine, starting with the aroma of blackcurrant, smoke and old leather; and a plate that lingers with meaty flavours.
Most interesting comments made: a touch of aniseed on the palate.
Claude says: This wine cries out for meat - a steak with wild mushroom sauce. It's not shy and has loads of character that you might expect from a Rhône blend.
The wood blends in well with the wine in both aroma and palate.
Tip: Another good wine to try is the Painted Wolf Guillermo Pinotage 2011.
