These are some of the properties and characteristics of Sangiovese:

  • They thrive in soils with a high concentration of limestone
  • They bud early and are slow to ripen
  • Grape skins are relatively thin
  • Due to thin skins it has a tendancy to rot in dampness

Black Cherry, plums, spices, tobacco and herbaceous flavours.
