These are some of the properties and characteristics of the Grenache:

  • Budbreak is early and maturity late.
  • Sensitive to botrytis and downy mildew.
  • Leaves are narrow and pointy, shiny and a clear green in colour
  • Bunches are large and conical
Berries are black, slightly oval and they have a fairly thick skin.

If someone gives you a glass of wine and asks you what wine it is, here are characteristics that will help you identify the varietal:

Thyme, fennel, rosemary, white pepper, raspberry and spicy.
