Semillon

These are some of the properties and characteristics of Semillon:

They grow well in medium to high potential soils. Semillon ripens early mid-season and at optimum maturity has satisfactory acidity and good sugars. Berries are susceptible to botrytis cinerea, the noble rot, and slightly resistant to powdery and downy mildew. Leaves are very light and bright in colour and medium sized, dark green when mature. The bunches are conical and berries are slightly oval and medium sized.

If someone gives you a glass of wine and asks you what wine it is, here are characteristics that will help you identify the varietal:

Citrus, lanolin, apple, tropical fruit, honey, vanilla.
