These are some of the properties and characteristics of the Pinotage grape:
- Buds early September. The older clones are usually the last of this variety to ripen.
- Susceptible to powdery mildew and botrytis and very susceptible to downy mildew.
- Leaves are oblong and have five lobes and are medium in size and dark green in colour.
- The berries are small and oval. The skin is blue-black in colour and is fairly strong.
