Situated on the Stellenbosch Wine Route, Zevenwacht Wine Estate is a historic South African property with roots stretching back around 300 years. Its vineyards benefit from the varied soils and growing conditions of the Stellenbosch region, where site and climate play an important role in shaping the character of the wines. Zevenwachtâs winemaking philosophy begins in the vineyard, with an emphasis on expressing the qualities of each site. The estateâs Chenin Blanc programme includes fruit from old vines planted in 1981 at Zevenwacht, alongside grapes from alluvial soils at its Zevenrivieren property in Banghoek. The 2025 Chenin Blanc combines this vineyard character with barrel and concrete fermentation, creating a wine that brings together ripe fruit, freshness and subtle texture.
Colour: Clear and bright in the glass, with a pale golden hue and hints of lime.
Nose: Aromas of white peach, quince and citrus lead the way, followed by subtle oak spice. The fruit is fresh and inviting, with a gentle savoury complexity from its winemaking.
Palate: Vibrant and juicy, with flavours of stone fruit, citrus and quince. Fresh acidity gives the wine energy, while its mineral character and restrained oak influence add texture and shape. The result is a medium-bodied Chenin Blanc with a refreshing, food-friendly profile.
