Zandvliet Shiraz Rose 2024

Description
Zandvliet Wine Estate, set on the gently rolling limestone-rich slopes near Ashton in the Robertson Valley, is long regarded as one of South Africa’s Shiraz specialists, rooted in a viticultural tradition dating back to the 19th century. The estate’s “kalkveld” terroir - chalky, mineral soils warmed by sunshine and cooled by southerly breezes - underpins the character of its Shiraz vines, imbuing fruit with expressive red-fruit aromatics and firm acidity that translate beautifully into rosé.
For the 2024 vintage, Shiraz grapes were harvested early morning and pressed gently to extract only a light pink hue before fermentation. Zandvliet’s approach balances freshness and flavour, crafting a rosé that feels both refined and perfectly in tune with the varietal’s classic red fruit profile - straightforward in style but genuine in expression.
Colour: A radiant rose-gold pink in the glass that looks as refreshing as it tastes.
Nose: Aromas of rose petals, strawberries and raspberries with subtle hints of melon and fresh red berry coulis.
Palate: Light to medium in weight, the palate delivers vibrant red fruit flavours - think juicy raspberry and wild strawberry - framed by crisp acidity. The texture is clean and lively, with a gentle floral undertone that adds an elegant lift.
Finish: Refreshing and balanced, finishing with a touch of red fruit sweetness that lingers pleasantly without heaviness.

Zandvliet Shiraz Rose 2024
- Food Pairing : Zandvliet Shiraz Rosé 2024’s bright acidity and lively red fruit make it an ideal partner to summer fare and lighter dishes. It pairs beautifully with grilled prawns dressed in lemon and herbs - the citrus brightness cuts through the wine’s fruit and refreshes the palate. A chilled pasta salad with cherry tomatoes, olives and feta mirrors the wine’s fresh red berry notes, while a platter of smoked trout or grilled chicken skewers offers savoury balance to the wine’s lift. The general rule here is that its crispness and fruit-forward character make it as versatile at lunch as it is at sundowners.
