Zandvliet Chardonnay 2026

Produced by Zandvliet Wine Estate, an established Robertson producer, this Chardonnay reflects the distinctive character of the Breede River Valley. Zandvliet’s Chardonnay vineyards are associated with gently sloping sites, rocky, chalk-rich soils and a climate marked by warm summers, cooler nights and cold winters. The estate’s Chardonnay style traditionally combines ripe citrus and stone-fruit flavours with subtle oak richness. Previous technical descriptions have included cold skin soaking, barrel fermentation and maturation on the lees, with bâtonnage used to build texture.

Colour: Pale straw with golden highlights.
Nose: Aromas of lime, nectarine, peach and passion fruit, supported by hints of butterscotch and subtle spice.
Palate: Smooth and rounded, with flavours of citrus, ripe stone fruit and tropical fruit. Gentle oak adds depth and creaminess, while fresh acidity helps maintain balance.
Finish: Harmonious and lingering, with notes of citrus, peach and lightly toasted oak. These tasting notes reflect Zandvliet’s established Chardonnay profile and should be checked against the final 2026 tasting sheet.

  • Food Pairing : This rounded Chardonnay pairs well with grilled line fish, roast chicken, pork tenderloin, creamy seafood pasta, chicken with a light cream sauce and mature cheese platters. Its citrus freshness helps balance richer textures, while the peach, tropical-fruit and gentle oak flavours complement roasted poultry, seafood, creamy sauces and lightly toasted flavours.
  • Drink before: Cellaring potential: Best enjoyed young, or within the next 2–3 years under suitable cellar conditions.

  • Region: Robertson, Western Cape
