Located in the Paarl wine-growing region of the Western Cape, Windmeul Kelder is a wine producer rooted in the warm, dry conditions of the Paarl valley. The region's Mediterranean climate and varied soils provide favourable conditions for growing Shiraz, a variety known for its dark fruit, spice and generous texture. Windmeul Shiraz 2023 reflects the accessible, fruit-focused style associated with the variety. It is a red wine suited to everyday enjoyment, with the dark-fruit character and savoury spice that make Shiraz a natural partner for hearty food.

Colour: Deep ruby red with purple highlights.
Nose: Blackberry, ripe plum and dark cherry, with subtle black pepper and savoury spice.
Palate: Medium to full-bodied, with generous dark fruit and a rounded texture. Gentle tannins provide structure, while the fruit character keeps the wine approachable.
Finish: Smooth and lingering, with dark berry fruit and a subtle peppery impression.

  • Food Pairing : Windmeul Shiraz 2023 is a practical match for lamb chops on the braai, beef burgers, spicy sausage pizza, bobotie or a hearty beef stew. Its dark-fruit character and gentle tannins complement grilled and slow-cooked meats, while the peppery spice works with the aromatic flavours in bobotie and spicy sausage. The wine's fruit-forward style also makes it easy to pair with a relaxed South African braai.
