Range Blanc Fumé 2021 showcases the estate's commitment to sourcing exceptional fruit from carefully selected vineyard sites. While Vrede en Lust is based in the Franschhoek Valley, the Sauvignon Blanc for this wine comes from Elgin, one of South Africa's coolest wine-growing regions. Elgin's elevated vineyards and maritime influence allow grapes to ripen slowly, preserving freshness while developing flavour intensity. Fermentation and maturation in French oak barrels add texture and complexity, creating a style that balances the vibrant character of Sauvignon Blanc with the depth and structure associated with classic Blanc Fumé wines. The result is a wine that combines New World fruit purity with a more restrained, Old World-inspired approach.
Colour: Pale straw with brilliant clarity and subtle golden highlights.
Nose: Layers of grapefruit, lime and gooseberry lead the aromatics, followed by notes of white peach, flint, gentle toast and hints of fresh herbs. Oak maturation contributes subtle complexity without dominating the fruit.
