Van Ryn’s Distillery in Stellenbosch is widely regarded as one of South Africa’s benchmark producers of traditional Cape potstill brandy. The distillery traces its roots back to the mid-1800s and has built a reputation for meticulous craftsmanship and extended maturation.
Cape potstill brandy follows a production approach similar to Cognac, beginning with carefully selected wine that is double distilled in copper pot stills. At Van Ryn’s, the spirit is then matured for extended periods in French oak barrels in the distillery’s historic maturation cellars. The Van Ryn’s 12-Year-Old Potstill Brandy represents a balance between fruit purity and oak complexity, showcasing the depth that long ageing can bring to Cape brandy.

Nose:
Complex aromas of dried apricot, orange peel and honey rise from the glass, supported by notes of vanilla, toasted almonds and gentle oak spice.
Palate:
