This small-batch wine is crafted by Dirk Swanepoel on the historic estate, known for elegant wines.A Rhone-inspired blend that brings together Shiraz/Syrah, Mourvedre and Grenache from selected Western Cape vineyards. These Mediterranean varieties suit the Cape's warm, dry conditions, producing naturally ripe fruit with spice and savoury depth. Shiraz provides dark fruit and pepper, Mourvedre adds structure and earthy complexity, while Grenache contributes red fruit lift and suppleness. In the cellar the focus is typically on gentle extraction and measured oak maturation, aiming to showcase perfume, fruit purity and a supple texture rather than sheer power. The result is a modern Cape blend that's characterful, food-friendly and easy to enjoy. Colour: Medium to deep ruby with a bright, youthful rim. Nose: Ripe raspberry, cherry and plum up front, supported by darker berry notes, black pepper, dried herbs, a touch of lavender and subtle oak spice. Palate: Medium bodied with a juicy core of red and dark berries. Fresh acidity and fine, lightly grippy tannins give shape without heaviness. Pepper, garrigue-like herb notes and a hint of cured meat add savoury interest, while well-judged oak sits in the background. The overall feel is supple and moreish rather than dense. Finish: Medium in length, with lingering red fruit, spice and a gentle, earthy savouriness.
