Survivor Terroir Syrah 2021
Shiraz / Syrah
Description
Survivor Wines crafts terroir-driven expressions in the heart of Swartland, a region whose dry, warm climate and varied soils coax remarkable intensity from Mediterranean-heritage varieties like Syrah. The “Terroir” range spotlight's regional identity: vineyards are selected for expressive fruit and balance, with careful viticulture helping preserve aromatic lift and phenolic ripeness. For the Survivor Terroir Syrah 2021, traditional fermentation and attentive maturation - often including time in oak barrels - support both vibrant fruit and savoury spice complexity without masking the wine’s sense of place. The result is a wine that feels grounded in Swartland’s sunbaked terrain and cool evening influence.
Colour: Deep, concentrated ruby-garnet - a sign of ripe fruit and structural density.
Nose: Expressive aromatics of cracked black peppercorns, bramble berries and plum merge with hints of coriander and subtle oak spice. A touch of violet and savoury herb lifts the bouquet.
Palate: Medium- to full-bodied with a layered texture. Juicy black fruit — blackberry and plum - sits alongside savoury spice and gentle earthiness. Balanced acidity and supple tannins keep the palate engaging rather than heavy.
Finish: Dry and persistent, the finish echoes dark fruit and spice, leaving a hint of cracked peppercorn and savoury complexity.

Survivor Terroir Syrah 2021
- Food Pairing : Survivor Terroir Syrah 2021 pairs superbly with grilled and roasted dishes that complement its fruit intensity and spice profile. A braaied lamb shoulder with rosemary and cracked black pepper enhances the wine’s peppery notes and rich fruit, while slow-roasted beef with herbs brings out savoury depth and layered tannins. For something more casual, a spicy pork stir-fry with sweet cabbage or barbecued chicken with herb rubs mirrors the wine’s spice and dark fruit character without overpowering its balance.
