Nestled near the windswept Cape Agulhas and Elim in the far southern reaches of the Western Cape, Strandveld Vineyards thrives in one of South Africa’s coolest wine-growing climates. This exposure to maritime wind, quartzite-rich soils and fog-influenced growing conditions gives the Shiraz/Syrah grape here a distinctive combination of vibrant fruit intensity and savoury complexity. The First Sighting range reflects Strandveld’s heritage of producing approachable, everyday wines that punch above their price point - with minimal oak influence and careful fruit selection to showcase pure varietal expression from this unique terroir.
Colour: Medium ruby with a youthful purple rim, clear and inviting in the glass.
Nose: Expressive aromas of blackcurrant, dark plum and ripe blackberry are layered with hints of white pepper and toasted nuts, leading to subtle mocha and smoky spice notes.
