Stellenrust B28 Chenin Blanc 2024 (Top 10)
Chenin Blanc
Description
Stellenrust is one of Stellenbosch’s largest family-owned estates, with roots stretching back to the late 1600s. Situated in the heart of the Golden Triangle, the farm benefits from decomposed granite soils and cooling ocean influences that help preserve freshness in the fruit. The B28 Chenin Blanc forms part of the estate’s “Bottelary Hills” range, where old bush vines and sustainably farmed vineyards are central to the philosophy.
The approach here is thoughtful rather than showy: grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, gently handled, and fermented to retain varietal clarity. Stellenrust leans into a balance between classic, fruit-driven New World expression and the texture and restraint often associated with Old World Chenin Blanc, resulting in wines that are both accessible and grounded in place.
Colour:
Pale straw with a faint green edge, bright and youthful in the glass.
Nose:
Fresh orchard fruit leads the way - green apple, pear, and white peach - followed by hints of citrus zest and a light floral lift. Subtle notes of honeycomb and wet stone add a gentle layer of complexity.
Palate:
Medium-bodied with a clean, linear structure. The fruit profile mirrors the nose, with crisp apple and stone fruit supported by lively acidity. There’s a slight waxy texture typical of Chenin Blanc, giving the wine a rounded mid-palate without losing its freshness.
Finish:
Dry and refreshing, with lingering citrus and a soft mineral note that keeps it precise and moreish.

Stellenrust B28 Chenin Blanc 2024 (Top 10)
- Food Pairing : The Stellenrust B28 Chenin Blanc 2024 pairs easily with a range of everyday dishes. Its bright acidity cuts through the richness of roast chicken or creamy pasta, while the subtle fruit and freshness complement Cape Malay-style lightly spiced curries without overwhelming the dish. It also works well with grilled fish or calamari, where the citrus edge lifts the flavours, and with a simple goat’s cheese salad, where the wine’s texture and acidity balance the tang and creaminess beautifully.
