Situated in the Robertson Valley, Springfield Estate is one of South Africa's most respected family-owned wineries. Thunderchild Red is a contemporary Cape blend that combines the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the spice and generosity of Syrah, supported by the depth and colour contribution of Petit Verdot. Colour:
Deep ruby red with youthful purple highlights and excellent intensity.
Nose:
Aromatic and inviting, with notes of blackcurrant, ripe plum and dark cherry leading the way. Layers of black pepper, fynbos, cedar and subtle baking spice add complexity and character.
Palate:
Medium- to full-bodied with ripe dark berry fruit at its core. Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure and freshness, while Syrah contributes a savoury, peppery edge and a generous mid-palate. Fine tannins and well-judged acidity create balance, allowing the wine to remain approachable while retaining depth and complexity.
Finish:
Smooth and persistent, with lingering dark fruit, gentle spice and savoury notes that carry through the finish.
