The Snow Mountain Reserve Chenin Blanc 2024 is produced from carefully selected old-vine Chenin Blanc vineyards situated high in the hills above the Cape. The elevated vineyard sites provide cooler growing conditions that help preserve freshness while allowing the grapes to develop flavour concentration and natural balance. Snow Mountain Wines focuses on small-batch winemaking that highlights vineyard character and traditional cellar techniques. For the Reserve Chenin Blanc, a tiny crop of specially selected grapes is fermented and matured using classic methods, including ageing in French oak barrels. This approach adds texture and complexity while allowing the fruit and vineyard expression to remain at the forefront. The result is a Chenin Blanc that combines richness and freshness in a distinctly South African style.
Colour: Bright golden straw with youthful clarity and a subtle golden hue.
Nose: Aromas of dried apple, ripe banana and baked pear lead the bouquet, followed by notes of honey, toasted almonds and gentle oak spice.
Palate: Generous and textured, showing flavours of orchard fruit, honeyed citrus and baked apple. The French oak maturation contributes a creamy mouthfeel and subtle nutty complexity, while fresh acidity keeps the wine focused and balanced.
Finish: Long and smooth, with lingering notes of honey, almond and ripe stone fruit.
