Situated in the scenic Slanghoek Valley near Rawsonville, Opstal Estate is a family-owned winery where generations have farmed the fertile valley beneath the Slanghoek Mountains. The Sixpence range pays tribute to Daniel "Sixpence" Smiles, the estate's shepherd during the 1950s and 1960s, whose former grazing lands were gradually planted with vineyards. Today, many of the grapes for the range are grown on these historic sites. Crafted in an approachable, fruit-forward style, the Opstal Sixpence Cabernet Sauvignon 2025 reflects the estate's philosophy of producing honest, easy-drinking wines that showcase the quality of the Breedekloof region without unnecessary complexity.
Colour: Bright ruby red with youthful crimson highlights.
Nose: Inviting aromas of ripe red berries and plum are complemented by darker berry fruit, with subtle hints of coffee, chocolate and gentle spice.
Palate: Medium-bodied and smooth, the palate offers juicy red and black fruit supported by soft, approachable tannins. Fresh acidity keeps the wine lively, while its rounded texture makes it easy to enjoy on its own or with food.
Finish: Clean and supple, with lingering berry fruit and delicate notes of cocoa and spice.
