Off The Record is the small-production label of winemaker Bobby Wallace, created as a personal project alongside his work in Elgin. The name reflects its origins - a quiet, experimental venture - but the wines themselves are anything but understated. Sourced from cool-climate Elgin vineyards, the Chenin Blanc is shaped by slow ripening conditions that preserve acidity and build layered flavour. Winemaking leans towards a hands-off approach, with wild fermentation and ageing in French oak adding texture without overwhelming the fruit. The result is a considered, site-driven Chenin that balances freshness with subtle richness, showcasing a more refined side of the variety from this region.

Pale straw with a bright, youthful edge.
Nose:
Lifted citrus aromatics - lemon peel and grapefruit - alongside green apple and a faint flinty note. Subtle oak influence adds a gentle creaminess and depth.
Palate:
Medium-bodied with a textured, slightly creamy mouthfeel. Citrus and orchard fruit flavours lead, supported by a fine mineral backbone. The acidity is fresh and well-judged, giving structure without sharpness, while light oak integration adds roundness.
Finish:
Long and composed, with lingering citrus, a touch of spice, and a clean mineral line.
