Off the Charts Clairette Blanche 2024
The Off the Charts range from Bruce Jack Wines celebrates the distinctive grape varieties and vineyard sites that have shaped South African wine history. Inspired by the cultural heritage and wild landscapes of the Cape, the range focuses on wines that offer a sense of place and authenticity. The Off the Charts Clairette Blanche 2024 is sourced from two old Clairette Blanche vineyards in Breedekloof, one of the few remaining plantings of this historic Rhône variety in South Africa. Surrounded by mountain ranges and influenced by cooling Atlantic breezes, the region allows for slow, even ripening while retaining freshness and natural acidity. The grapes are hand-harvested, hand-sorted and fermented with six days of skin contact before completing fermentation in older Burgundy barrels. The result is a textured, characterful wine that showcases the unique personality of Clairette Blanche while remaining remarkably fresh and vibrant.
Colour: Pale gold with bright, luminous clarity and subtle golden highlights.
Nose: Layers of nectarine and ripe citrus lead the aromatics, followed by notes of orange peel, almond, vanilla, caramel and a gentle touch of clove spice. The wine is both inviting and intriguingly complex.
Palate: Textured and vibrant, with flavours of nectarine, lime and lemongrass supported by hints of toffee, almond and subtle spice. The skin contact contributes a distinctive mouthfeel without heaviness, while bright acidity keeps the palate focused and energetic.
Finish: Fresh and zesty, with lingering citrus, gentle spice and a delicate mineral edge that adds persistence and interest.
- Food Pairing : The Off the Charts Clairette Blanche 2024 is a versatile food wine that works particularly well with grilled line fish, prawns, calamari and mussels. Its bright acidity and citrus character complement fresh seafood beautifully, while the wine's textured palate makes it equally at home alongside roast vegetables, creamy chicken dishes and both soft and mature cheeses. The balance between freshness and savoury complexity allows it to pair comfortably with a wide range of Mediterranean-inspired dishes.
