Nestled in the cool maritime climate of the Cape Agulhas region near Gansbaai, Lomond Wine Estate is one of South Africa's most southerly vineyards. The estate's proximity to the Atlantic Ocean creates a long, moderate growing season that allows grapes to ripen slowly while retaining the natural acidity essential for premium sparkling wine. Lomond has earned a reputation for producing wines that reflect the distinctive character of this coastal terroir. The estate's vineyards are planted across diverse soil types and carefully managed to capture freshness, purity and site expression. For its Blanc de Blancs, Chardonnay is crafted using the traditional method, with extended lees maturation adding complexity while preserving the vibrant fruit profile that defines the Cape Agulhas region.
Colour: Bright pale gold with a fine, persistent stream of delicate bubbles.
Nose: Fresh citrus, green apple and lemon zest aromas lead the way, followed by notes of brioche, toasted almonds and subtle biscuit complexity from time spent on the lees.
Palate: The palate is vibrant and precise, showing flavours of crisp apple, citrus and white peach supported by lively acidity. The mousse is fine and creamy, adding texture without overshadowing the wine's freshness and purity.
Finish: Clean and lingering, with notes of citrus peel, baked pastry and a refreshing mineral edge that invites another sip.
