L'Avenir Wine Estate is situated in Stellenbosch, on the foothills of the Simonsberg mountain range. The estate is particularly known for its focus on Chenin Blanc and Pinotage, but its Sauvignon Blanc also reflects the combination of mountain influence and Stellenbosch's relatively warm, dry climate. L'Avenir is part of the Laroche family of wineries, bringing a French perspective to a distinctly South African vineyard environment. The estate's approach centres on freshness, balance and allowing the fruit to remain the focus. The Horizon Sauvignon Blanc is made by the L'Avenir winemaking team as an accessible expression of the estate's Stellenbosch vineyards. The wine is produced to emphasise the naturally aromatic side of Sauvignon Blanc, with tropical fruit, citrus and subtle green-herbal notes supported by refreshing acidity.
Colour: Bright, pale gold with a youthful green tint.
Nose: Expressive aromas of guava, pineapple and ripe melon lead the nose, followed by white pear, fresh citrus and a subtle lemongrass note. A gentle grassy character adds freshness without dominating the fruit.
Palate: Dry and refreshing, with tropical fruit and crisp citrus flavours carried by lively acidity. Guava, pineapple and melon give the wine a generous fruit profile, while subtle green notes and a clean mineral freshness add definition. The overall style is light, approachable and fruit-driven.
