Kavalan Distillery is based in Yilan County in northeastern Taiwan, where the subtropical climate plays an important role in the character of its whiskies. Founded by King Car Group, Kavalan became Taiwan's first whisky distillery and has built its reputation around carefully selected casks and whisky-making adapted to a much warmer climate than traditional Scotch-producing regions. The warm, humid conditions encourage rapid interaction between spirit and oak, helping develop generous fruit and sweet-spice characteristics. Distillery Select No.1 is a no-age-statement single malt created to showcase Kavalan's distinctive tropical character without allowing oak to dominate. The whisky is matured in carefully selected refill casks, allowing the spirit's fruit-driven character to remain at the forefront. It is designed to be approachable enough for newcomers while still offering the richness and complexity associated with Kavalan.
Colour: Rich golden amber.
Nose: Ripe tropical fruit leads the way, with pineapple, mango and other orchard-fruit notes alongside fragrant florals and warm vanilla. Subtle oak and sweet spice add depth.
Palate: Smooth, rounded and gently sweet, with layers of creamy toffee, butterscotch and vanilla supported by ripe tropical fruit. The texture is soft and full, with gentle spice adding complexity without introducing a smoky or heavily peated character.
Finish: Smooth and lingering, with pineapple, mango, vanilla, toffee and gentle sweet spice.

Its tropical fruit, vanilla and toffee character works particularly well alongside dark chocolate, caramel desserts, roasted nuts or a mature hard cheese.
