Jordan Unoaked Chardonnay 2025
Nestled in the Stellenbosch Kloof ward, Jordan Wine Estate benefits from a unique ravine that channels cooling breezes from False Bay across its south- and east-facing vineyards. This moderating maritime influence allows Chardonnay to ripen slowly, preserving freshness while developing flavour intensity. Owned and managed by Gary and Kathy Jordan since the early 1990s, the estate has earned a reputation for matching grape varieties to the most suitable vineyard sites. Gary's background in geology helped shape this approach, with Chardonnay planted on decomposed granite soils that contribute both finesse and structure. Jordan's winemaking philosophy balances New World fruit expression with Old World restraint, producing wines that reflect their Stellenbosch origins with clarity and precision. For the Jordan Unoaked Chardonnay 2025, stainless steel fermentation and extended lees contact allow the vineyard character to take centre stage, without the influence of oak.
Colour: Bright straw yellow with youthful green highlights.
Nose: Fresh lemon zest, lime and citrus blossom lead the aromatics, followed by subtle notes of apricot, yellow orchard fruit and a gentle lees-derived creaminess.
Palate: Crisp and vibrant, with flavours of lime, grapefruit and ripe stone fruit. The absence of oak keeps the fruit profile focused and precise, while extended lees contact adds texture and a rounded mouthfeel. The acidity is lively without being sharp, giving the wine energy and definition.
Finish: Clean, refreshing and persistent, finishing with notes of lime sorbet, citrus peel and a subtle mineral edge.
- Food Pairing : The bright acidity and unoaked style of the Jordan Unoaked Chardonnay 2025 make it an excellent partner for fresh seafood, grilled line fish, calamari, sushi or West Coast mussels. Its citrus-driven character also works beautifully with roast chicken, creamy pasta with asparagus, or a goat's cheese salad. The wine's freshness cuts through richer dishes while its subtle lees texture provides enough weight to complement creamy sauces and delicate white meats without overwhelming them.
