Jordan Inspector Peringuey Chenin Blanc 2025
Produced by Jordan Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, the Jordan Inspector Peringuey Chenin Blanc 2025 is named after Louis Albert Péringuey, the 19th-century Inspector-General of Vineyards in the Cape who played a pivotal role in combating the phylloxera crisis. The wine is sourced from mature 42-year-old Chenin Blanc vineyards planted on decomposed granite and loam soils on cool south- and east-facing slopes approximately 220 metres above sea level. Jordan Wine Estate has built its reputation on matching grape varieties to the most suitable vineyard sites, combining scientific understanding of terroir with a practical, quality-focused approach. This wine reflects that philosophy beautifully, with a portion fermented and matured in Burgundian oak barrels and amphorae, while tank-fermented fruit preserves freshness and purity. The result is a Chenin Blanc that balances richness, texture and vibrant fruit expression.
Colour: Bright straw yellow with subtle green highlights, indicating youthful freshness and concentration.
Nose: White pear, quince and green pineapple lead the aromatics, supported by notes of peach, citrus peel, gentle spice and a touch of vanilla and brioche from oak maturation.
Palate: Generous and mouth-filling without being heavy. Layers of ripe pear, stone fruit and pineapple are complemented by a creamy texture derived from lees ageing. Fresh acidity keeps the wine focused and energetic, while subtle oak influence adds complexity rather than dominance.
Finish: Long and refined, with lingering citrus, mineral notes and a gentle savoury spice that encourages another sip.
- Food Pairing : The texture and freshness of the Jordan Inspector Peringuey Chenin Blanc 2025 make it particularly versatile at the table. It pairs beautifully with grilled line fish, roast chicken, creamy seafood pasta, Cape Malay curry and pork dishes with fruit-based accompaniments. The wine's vibrant acidity cuts through richer textures, while its subtle oak influence and ripe fruit profile complement both delicate and lightly spiced flavours. It is equally enjoyable as an aperitif or alongside a relaxed lunch featuring seafood or poultry.
