Jordan Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2024
Located in the Stellenbosch Kloof ward, Jordan Wine Estate has built a reputation for producing site-specific wines that express the unique character of their vineyards. The estate's vineyards are planted on cooler south- and east-facing slopes overlooking False Bay, where maritime influences help preserve freshness and aromatic intensity. Diverse Chardonnay clones are planted across varying elevations and soil types, including Glenrosa and Hutton soils, allowing the winemaking team to blend different flavour and texture components into a wine of depth and finesse. Fermentation and maturation in French oak barrels contribute complexity while maintaining the purity and elegance for which Jordan's Chardonnays are known.
Colour: Bright straw gold with youthful green highlights and excellent clarity.
Nose: Inviting aromas of lemon biscuit, ripe citrus and overripe orange peel lead the bouquet. Subtle notes of stone fruit, toasted nuts and delicate oak spice add complexity as the wine opens in the glass.
Palate: Richly textured yet poised, with flavours of citrus, yellow peach and green pineapple layered over a creamy mid-palate. Barrel fermentation contributes depth and gentle oak spice, while fresh acidity keeps the wine focused and energetic. The blend of different Chardonnay clones and vineyard sites creates both concentration and elegance.
Finish: Long and persistent, finishing with notes of lemon curd, subtle spice and a mineral freshness that lingers pleasantly.
- Food Pairing : Jordan Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2024 is particularly well suited to dishes that match its richness while allowing its acidity to refresh the palate. Try it with roast chicken, grilled kingklip, creamy mushroom risotto, seared salmon or pork belly with apple sauce. The wine's textured mouthfeel and subtle oak character complement creamy sauces and roasted flavours, while its citrus-driven freshness prevents richer dishes from feeling heavy. It is equally at home at a summer lunch or alongside a more substantial evening meal.
