Produced by Flagstone Wines and crafted by winemaker Gerhard Swart, Poetry Pinotage reflects the winery’s creative approach to South Africa’s signature red grape. Flagstone describes its winemaking philosophy as a balance between respect for its long winemaking heritage and a willingness to explore the expressive possibilities of nature and the cellar. The wine is made from Pinotage grown in the Western Cape. Fermentation takes place mainly in stainless-steel tanks, with a portion of the wine receiving oak treatment. This approach preserves the grape’s ripe fruit character while adding subtle spice, texture and gentle oak complexity.
Colour: Bright ruby red.
Nose: A generous mixture of ripe, juicy red fruit with delicate spicy notes.
Palate: Ripe red plum and fruitcake flavours lead onto a soft, fruit-driven palate. Subtle, well-integrated oak adds depth and a smooth, rounded texture without overpowering the fruit.
Finish: Pleasantly lingering, with gentle oak, ripe fruit and a dry, polished finish.
