Deetlefs Wine Estate, rooted in the Breedekloof Valley of the Western Cape, is one of South Africa’s oldest family-owned wine farms, with over two centuries of history on its soils. The estate embraces both heritage and hands-on craft: vineyards planted in the 1990s are managed for balanced ripeness, with careful fermentation and extended oak ageing enhancing the varietal character. Deetlefs Pinotage bottles the unique South African grape at its expressive best - rich, earthy and fruit-driven - reflecting Breedekloof’s warm days, cool nights and meticulous viticulture.
Colour: Deep ruby with hints of garnet at the rim, clear and vibrant in the glass.
Nose: Aromas of mulberry, raspberry and cherries lead, underscored by spice, subtle vanilla oak and an earthy undertone that hints at complexity.
Palate: Medium-full bodied, the palate shows concentrated cherry and dark fruit cores, balanced by ripe tannins and well-integrated oak. Notes of dark chocolate and roasted coffee bean add depth, while the fruit remains the driving force.
Finish: Dry, with lingering dark fruit and spice echoes offering a satisfying, well-rounded close.
