Cape Point Sauvignon Blanc Reserve 2022
Sauvignon Blanc
Description
Cape Point Vineyards, located in Noordhoek on the Cape Peninsula, is one of South Africa’s most distinctive Sauvignon Blanc producers. Set just a short distance from the Atlantic Ocean beneath Chapman’s Peak, the vineyards are shaped by constant sea breezes, cool temperatures, and decomposed granite soils - conditions that naturally slow ripening and build intensity.
The Reserve Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from select sea-facing vineyard parcels, where the maritime influence creates a signature saline freshness. Winemaking leans towards texture and complexity, with fermentation and extended ageing on lees in older French oak barrels. This adds depth without masking the vineyard character, resulting in a wine that balances coastal precision with layered richness.
Colour:
Bright pale gold with a subtle green tint.
Nose:
Layered aromatics of lemon, grapefruit and nectarine, followed by floral notes, citrus blossom and hints of spice such as white pepper and cardamom.
Palate:
Medium- to full-bodied with a textured, almost creamy mouthfeel from lees ageing. Citrus and stone fruit lead, supported by a pithy grip and a distinctive mineral, slightly saline edge - a clear reflection of its ocean-influenced origin.
Finish:
Long and persistent, finishing with citrus peel, minerality and a subtle salty note.

Cape Point Sauvignon Blanc Reserve 2022
- Food Pairing : Cape Point Sauvignon Blanc Reserve 2022 is particularly well suited to dishes that echo its coastal freshness and textured palate. It pairs beautifully with grilled prawns, mussels or line fish, where the wine’s saline edge enhances the natural flavours of the sea. Creamy seafood pasta or risotto also works well, as the wine’s weight and lees-driven texture hold their own while acidity keeps things lifted. For a local touch, try it with snoek pâté or a seafood braai - the citrus and mineral notes cut through richness while complementing smoky elements.
