Bellevue Wine Estate is situated in the Bottelary Hills of Stellenbosch, an area renowned for producing structured, age-worthy red wines. Warm daytime conditions are moderated by afternoon breezes, while decomposed granite and shale soils help regulate vine vigour and concentrate flavour. These natural advantages make the region especially suited to Bordeaux-style blends.
With generations of family ownership and a respected place in South African wine history, Bellevue combines heritage with focused modern winemaking. The Tumara Reserve range represents the estate’s premium expression, crafted from selected vineyard parcels and matured with care to build depth, harmony and longevity. The 2021 vintage reflects both the power and polish associated with Stellenbosch reds.
Colour:
Deep garnet red with a dense ruby core and youthful brightness.
Nose:
Blackcurrant, cassis and ripe plum rise first, followed by cedar, pencil shaving, dried herbs and subtle mocha spice.
Palate:
Full-bodied and composed, with layers of dark berry fruit, black cherry and plum supported by firm, fine-grained tannins. Fresh acidity keeps the wine focused, while oak maturation adds texture and savoury complexity without overshadowing the fruit.
Finish:
Long and structured, finishing with cassis, cedar spice and a persistent savoury edge.
