Bellevue Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2023
Cabernet Sauvignon
Description
Bellevue Wine Estate sits in the revered Bottelary Hills of Stellenbosch - a sub-region prized for its gravel-rich soils, cooling Atlantic influence and long, even ripening seasons that suit Bordeaux-style varieties. This historic farm was established in the nineteenth century and has quietly built a reputation for consistent vineyard quality and thoughtful winemaking. Today, viticultural focus is on dry-land-cultivated blocks and minimal intervention in the cellar. For the Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, grapes are sourced from mature vineyards and given extended oak ageing - marrying varietal purity with textural complexity and structural finesse.
Colour:
A medium to deep ruby with youthful purple hues that promise both fruit intensity and developing complexity.
Nose:
Dominant aromas of blackcurrant and dark plum give this Cabernet its classic backbone, while cedarwood and subtle tobacco leaf offer secondary notes of spice and savoury nuance. Hints of violet and wet earth add depth without overwhelming the fruit.
Palate:
On the palate this is poised and structured. Black fruit - cassis and ripe plum - sits at the forefront, supported by firm, fine tannins and a clean mineral core. Oak influence is measured, showing as gentle spice and a touch of cedar rather than weight. Acidity is fresh enough to balance the wine’s richness, giving a poised, drinkable profile even in its youth.
Finish:
The finish is long and savoury, with lingering dark berry fruit, subtle spice and a touch of cedary complexity that keeps this Cabernet compelling to the last sip.

Bellevue Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2023
- Food Pairing : With its firm tannic structure and fresh acidity, Bellevue Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 pairs beautifully with rich, savoury dishes that complement rather than compete with the wine’s character. Think slow-braised lamb shanks with rosemary and garlic, a char-grilled rib-eye steak served simply with peppercorn jus, or a classic bobotie with its warm spice and umami depth - each dish echoing the wine’s dark fruit and cedar spice while offering the weight needed to balance its grip. A mature cheddar or a grilled Portobello mushroom risotto would also sit nicely alongside for a vegetarian option.
