Founded in 1790 in Edderton, Ross-shire, Balblair is one of Scotland’s oldest Highland distilleries, known for producing richly textured whiskies with a distinctive fruit-driven style. The distillery’s approach combines traditional methods with careful cask selection, resulting in whiskies that show both depth and elegance without excessive heaviness.
Balblair 15-Year-Old marks a step deeper into the distillery’s core range, offering greater concentration and complexity while retaining the freshness associated with Highland single malt whisky. The spirit is matured initially in American oak ex-bourbon casks before spending time in first-fill Spanish oak butts, adding layers of dark fruit, spice and chocolate richness to the whisky’s naturally bright character. The whisky is bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered and presented in natural colour, preserving texture and authenticity in the glass.
Appearance:
Bright amber with warm golden highlights.
Nose:
Aromatic layers of leatherwood honey, gingerbread and ripe prunes lead into notes of citrus peel, toasted oak and gentle baking spice.
Palate:
Velvety and full-bodied, with flavours of dark chocolate, tropical fruit and dried orchard fruit supported by warming spice and subtle oak richness. The texture is rounded and creamy without losing freshness.
Finish:
Long and mellow, leaving lingering notes of vanilla, soft citrus and gentle oak spice.
