Ayama Moscato 2023

Unit : 750ml Bottle

Moscato

Description

Ayama Wines, nestled on the slopes of the Voor Paardeberg near Paarl, is a unique meeting point of Italian heritage and South African terroir. The estate traces its origins back to the late 17th century, but its modern identity is shaped by a passion for Mediterranean varietals and expressive, site-driven wines.

The Voor Paardeberg’s granite-rich soils, combined with warm days and cooling winds, create ideal conditions for aromatic grapes like Muscat. At Ayama, grapes are hand-harvested and gently handled, with fermentation often stopped early to preserve natural sweetness and keep alcohol levels low - a style that prioritises fragrance, freshness, and drinkability.

Colour:
Bright pale straw with a youthful, luminous edge.

Nose:
Highly aromatic, showing classic Muscat notes of orange blossom, honeysuckle and lime flower, layered with peach, pineapple and a hint of spice.

Palate:
Light-bodied with a soft, rounded sweetness. Flavours of ripe stone fruit, citrus and tropical fruit come through clearly, supported by fresh acidity that keeps the wine lively rather than cloying.

Finish:
Clean and lightly refreshing, with lingering floral perfume and a subtly drier edge on the close.

  • Food Pairing : Ayama Moscato 2023 is a natural partner for lightly spiced and aromatic dishes. It works beautifully with Cape Malay curries, where the gentle sweetness softens spice and enhances fragrance. It’s equally at home with Thai cuisine, fruit-based desserts, or a selection of soft cheeses. For something simple, serve it well chilled alongside a summer fruit salad - the wine’s low alcohol and bright acidity make it an easy, versatile choice for relaxed occasions.
