Carmen Stevens Petrichor 2022
Bordeaux Blend
Description
Carmen Stevens Wines was established in 2011 with their maiden vintage in 2014. Carmen Stevens has been in the South African Wine Industry since qualifying in 1995. The Carmen Stevens Petrichor 2022 is a fusion of 5 grape varieties with Cabernet Sauvignon as the main component, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petite Verdot, and Carménère. The blend represents 3 growing regions, namely, Stellenbosch, Paarl and Wellington. This red wine displays an array of sweet ripe black currant berries with ripe cherries and vanilla notes from time in oak barrels. The wine is soft on the nose with hints of sweet spices. The palate entrance is smooth and soft with a hint of freshness. The mid-palate that follows, gives a sweetish impression, and flows to ripe blackberry fruit. The Cabernet Franc’s graphite becomes evident followed by the spicy element from the Carménère. A beautiful combination of 5 Bordeaux varietals. The sum of the parts adds depth and length.
