Chardonnay

These are some of the properties and characteristics of the Chardonnay grape:

  • Not affected by very cold weather.
  • It buds from late August to early September. Flowers at the end of September. Matures between the end of February and early March.
  • Sensitive to downy mildew.
  • Leaves are medium sized, very slightly lobed, and are thick with convex edges.
Berries are round, small, pale green to yellow. The skin is tough, thin and transparent.

Look out for Apple, Melon, Citrus, Vanilla (if wooded), Butterscotch, Lanolin, Buttered toast
