The Panel’s best wines for August | Recipe included
Dear Reader

Eating fine food is one of life’s greatest pleasures. And enjoying a glass of wine with your meal is another.

Spring is here and hopefully a summer of weekends away, long lazy lunches and lots of time with your family and friends.

If you’re looking for new wines or for a great match to your long lazy lunch, below are some of the panel’s highest-ranking wines for August.

Take the Dornier Merlot 2014, the panel notes were: Full-bodied and dry; redcurrant flavours with touches of cinnamon and dried herbs, still some grippiness on the finish. Pair it with slow-cooked Leg of Lamb, or ribeye steak with Café de Paris butter.

Personally, I would put this wine in the R150-R170 a bottle price category. But, in fact, it costs only R109. And if you are looking for the perfect slow-cooked Leg of Lamb recipe, see our family favourite below. Enjoy.

Kind Regards,
