Just released | Get the New 2017 Absa Top 10 Pinotage Selection
Dear Reader

We have been exclusive partners with the Pinotage Association since 1998

A focus on quality wine is my passion and my reason for starting the club back in 1986. The Pinotage Association follows the same tasting methodology as the Wine-of-the-Month Club. All Pinotages are tasted blind. No judge sees a label. This means they focus on one thing, and one thing only - what’s in the bottle.

Here are the 2017 Absa Top 10 Pinotages in alphabetical order:

Delheim Pinotage 2012:

Deep ruby red colour. Aromas of black cherry, plum and red berry fruit, backed by dark chocolate and floral notes. The palate shows red and black berries, with fine soft tannins that linger on the palate.
Diemersfontein Carpe Diem Reserve 2015:
Inviting flavours of raspberries, cherries and pencil shavings on the nose, followed with rich fruit flavours of plum and berries rounding it all off with supple tannins on the palate.
Flagstone Writer's Block SV Pinotage 2015:
Deep, incredibly dark purple colour, with lively bright purple edges. Intense, concentrated aromas of wild blueberry, mulberry and ripe cherry supported by smoky, spicy dark chocolate undertones.
Kanonkop Pinotage 2012:
A complex wine with hints of red fruit and mocha flavours. Elegant tannin structures with a good length and dry finish.
La Cave Pinotage 2016:
A sweet-fruited nose with hints of plum and vanilla aromas. Ripe red fruit tones on the palate are beautifully balanced with firm yet mature tannins. Full bodied yet supple.
Lanzerac Pioneer Pinotage 2014:
This wine delivers dense, concentrated fruit and layers of different flavours. Christmas spices of nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon surround plums, prunes, berries and currants whilst the well-integrated oak and soft, silky tannins add backbone and length.
Moreson MKM Pinotage 2015:
Aromas of Raspberry, Strawberry and Cherry. The palate shows Vanilla, Coconut, Sweet Tobacco, and Dark Fruit with hints of Graphite and Liquorice.
Neil Ellis Bottelary Hills Pinotage 2015:
Vibrant colour with youthful hues. Bright aromatics, perfumed sweet fruit with spicy varietal notes. Textured palate with red cherry notes gives way to fine grained tannins neatly framed with attractive cedar-like undertones.
Stellenbosch Bushvine Pinotage 2015:
A velvety palate with prominent notes of black and red berries, featuring spicy undertones of cinnamon. Dense fruit and integrated presence of wood and balance makes this truly an experience to enjoy.
Windmeul Reserve Pinotage 2015:
Complex nose made up of red fruit, cherries and prunes. Full flavoured palate complete with smooth textures and lingering aftertaste. Grapes where harvested at optimum ripeness, giving the wine strong prune and berry characteristics.
