Crafted at Wolfburn, the northernmost distillery on Scotland’s mainland in Thurso, this 10-year-old Highland single malt marks a milestone as the distillery’s first permanent age-statement release. Distilled using traditional methods, matured slowly in hand-selected second-fill Spanish Oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 46 % without chill-filtration or added colour, it shows the distillery’s commitment to pure flavour and refined maturation. The maritime climate and rugged northern location give the spirit a distinctive Highland character tempered by rich sherry influence.
Appearance:
Warm amber-gold with a subtle glow - a hallmark of long sherry maturation.
Nose:
Inviting sherry-influenced sweetness meets dried fruits - think figs, raisins and rich sultanas - woven with vanilla and a hint of oak spice. Soft brown sugar and toffee notes add depth.
Palate:
Full-flavoured and polished, with layered dark fruit and chocolate undertones. Notes of caramel, rich dried plums and gentle nutmeg unfold alongside subtle oak smoke. The sherry cask influence brings a rewarding balance of fruit sweetness and spice complexity without overwhelming the spirit.
Finish:
Long and satisfying, with lingering dried fruits, caramel warmth and a refined touch of gentle oak and spice that calls for another sip.
