Description
Wilderer Distillery, located in Paarl in the Cape Winelands, was founded by master distiller Helmut Wilderer, who brought traditional European distillation techniques to South Africa. Established in the mid-1990s, the distillery has built a strong reputation for small-batch craft spirits, including fruit brandies, grappas and gin.
The Wilderer Pinotage Grappa is distilled from the pomace of South Africa’s signature grape variety, Pinotage. After the grapes are pressed for wine, the remaining skins and pulp are carefully distilled to capture the aromatic character of the fruit. Using copper pot stills and slow distillation methods, the spirit preserves the distinctive character of Pinotage while delivering the clean intensity typical of traditional grappa.

Nose:
Expressive aromas of ripe red berries, cherry and plum rise from the glass, alongside subtle floral notes and a hint of spice.
Palate:
Full-bodied and warming, with flavours of red fruit, grape skin and a touch of almond. The texture is clean and structured, typical of traditional grappa, with a lively intensity that reflects the Pinotage base.
Finish:
Long and warming, leaving lingering impressions of fruit, spice and a delicate nuttiness.
