Founded in 1897 on the banks of the River Spey, Tamdhu Distillery has built its reputation around one defining principle: maturation exclusively in Oloroso sherry casks from Spain. This approach sets Tamdhu apart within Speyside, where many distilleries rely on a mixture of cask types.
The Tamdhu Distinction III Speyside Single Malt continues this tradition, showcasing the distilleryâs dedication to rich sherry cask maturation. The whisky is aged in carefully sourced seasoned American and European oak Oloroso sherry casks, which impart deep colour, dried fruit character and layered spice.
Distinction III forms part of Tamdhuâs special release series, designed to highlight the bold influence of these sherry casks while maintaining the distilleryâs classic Speyside elegance. The whisky is bottled at a higher strength of 48% ABV and is non-chill filtered, preserving texture and flavour.

Appearance:
Deep amber with warm mahogany highlights.

Nose:
Aromatic notes of raisins, dried figs and orange peel lead the nose, followed by hints of toasted almonds, cinnamon and polished oak.

Palate:
Full and rounded with flavours of dark chocolate, baked apple and dried fruit. The sherry casks add layers of spice and sweetness, supported by a rich malt backbone.

Long and warming with lingering notes of nutmeg, oak spice and sweet dried fruit.
