The Artisan The Banker Bordeaux Blend 2021
Bordeaux Blend
Description
The Artisan The Banker Bordeaux Blend 2021 is produced by Snow Mountain, a family-owned producer working with well-sited vineyards across the Western Cape. Snow Mountain focuses on classic varieties and blends, made in small batches with hands-on attention in the cellar. For The Banker, they draw on Bordeaux grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from cooler, elevated sites that offer good ripeness with natural freshness. Fermentation is typically in stainless steel, followed by maturation in oak barrels to shape structure and add subtle spice rather than dominate the fruit. The style is firmly Cape in origin but takes its cue from traditional Bordeaux: clear varietal character, defined tannins and a dry, food-friendly finish.
Colour:
Deep ruby with a youthful, purple-tinged rim and good density in the glass.
Nose:
Blackcurrant, blackberry and ripe plum lead the aromas, layered with red berries, pencil shavings, dried herbs and subtle cedar, vanilla and baking spice.
Palate:
Medium to full bodied with a firm but accessible tannin structure. A core of cassis, dark cherry and plum is supported by fresh acidity, giving drive and length. Savoury notes of tobacco leaf, graphite and gentle oak spice add complexity without dominating, and the texture feels polished rather than heavy.
Finish:
Medium to long, with lingering black fruit, dry spice and a faint, leafy freshness that keeps the finish clean.

The Artisan The Banker Bordeaux Blend 2021
- Food Pairing : The Artisan The Banker Bordeaux Blend 2021 is well suited to roast and braai fare. Its structure and dark fruit complement grilled ribeye, lamb chops or beef rump, where the tannins and acidity balance char and fat. It also works with slow-braised dishes such as oxtail or beef shin, echoing their depth with its savoury notes. For a more relaxed meal, try a mushroom and thyme pie, roasted vegetable and lentil bake or a mature cheddar and biltong board – the umami and saltiness play neatly against the wine’s herbal, cedary character.
