Nuiba Third Post Red Blend 2020
Blend : Red
Description
Nuiba Wines is a small, hands-on producer led by winemaker Suzanne Coetzee, focused on expressing the distinct character of Piekenierskloof fruit. This remote mountain region, located in the Olifants River area, is known for its dryland bush vines, sandy soils, and warm days moderated by altitude and cooling breezes. These conditions naturally limit yields, resulting in smaller berries with concentrated flavour.
The Nuiba Third Post Red Blend 2020 is built from these old bush vines, including Pinotage vines over 35 years old. The winemaking approach is minimal-intervention, allowing the fruit to lead while oak plays a supporting role. Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure, Grenache brings lift and finesse, and Pinotage anchors the blend with depth - creating a wine that reflects both place and thoughtful craftsmanship.
Colour:
Deep ruby with a rich, slightly opaque core.
Nose:
Ripe plums and cherries lead, followed by mulberries, sweet spice and a hint of dark chocolate. Subtle earthy and savoury notes add depth.
Palate:
Medium- to full-bodied, with soft, rounded tannins and a plush texture. The fruit profile leans toward ripe red and black fruits - plum, cherry and raisin - supported by gentle spice and a touch of oak. The structure is firm enough to hold the wine together without feeling heavy.
Finish:
Smooth and moderately long, with lingering dark fruit and a lightly spiced, savoury edge.

Nuiba Third Post Red Blend 2020
- Food Pairing : Nuiba Third Post Red Blend 2020 is well suited to richer, slow-cooked dishes where its ripe fruit and structure can hold their own. It pairs naturally with oxtail or lamb shank, where the wine’s depth complements the savoury richness. Grilled steak or braaied beef cuts also work well, as the tannins interact with the protein and fat. For something slightly lighter, try it with roast chicken and herbs or a mushroom-based dish - the wine’s fruit and spice bring warmth while its structure keeps the pairing grounded.
