Lomond Conebush Syrah 2021 (Top 12)
Shiraz / Syrah
Description
Lomond Wine Estate lies within the Cape Agulhas ward near the coastal village of Gansbaai, one of the southernmost wine regions in Africa. This maritime landscape is strongly influenced by cooling Atlantic Ocean winds, which slow ripening and help grapes retain natural acidity while developing aromatic complexity.
The Conebush Syrah 2021 reflects this cool-climate expression. Vineyards grow on diverse soils including gravel, clay and sandstone, surrounded by indigenous fynbos that gives the wine its name. Grapes are hand-harvested and vinified in separate vineyard blocks to preserve site character before maturation in oak barrels. The result is a Syrah that balances dark fruit richness with the savoury spice and freshness typical of Cape Agulhas wines.
Â

Lomond Conebush Syrah 2021 (Top 12)
- Food Pairing : The savoury spice and firm structure of Lomond Conebush Syrah 2021 make it a natural partner for richly flavoured dishes. It pairs well with grilled Karoo lamb chops, where the wineâs peppery character echoes the char from the grill. Slow-braised beef short ribs or oxtail stew also work beautifully, as the wineâs tannins balance the richness of the meat. For something lighter, try it with mushroom risotto or roasted aubergine, where the earthy flavours complement the wineâs dark fruit and subtle herbal notes.
