Landskroon Cabernet Sauvignon 2025
On the south-western slopes of the iconic Paarl Mountain, Landskroon has been shaped by five generations of the De Villiers family and more than 150 years of Cape winemaking heritage. The estate’s elevated Paarl Mountain vineyards, with their granite- and shale-influenced soils, contribute to the ripe dark-fruit character and generous structure associated with Landskroon Cabernet Sauvignon. The Landskroon Cabernet Sauvignon 2025 reflects a straightforward approach to classic Cabernet: expressive Paarl fruit, considered oak influence and enough structure to make it a serious food wine without demanding years in the cellar. The wine is made as a dry, full-bodied 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the estate describing the style as smooth and highlighting refined, silky tannins and integrated oak. The estate entered a new chapter in 2025 when Van Loveren Family Vineyards acquired the Landskroon wine brand and operational cellar, continuing the winemaking legacy on the historic Paarl property.
Colour: Deep ruby red with a youthful, rich appearance in the glass.
Nose: Dark berry fruit leads, with aromas of ripe blackberry and mulberry complemented by cedar, warming spice and subtle savoury notes. Gentle oak-derived characters add hints of cigar box and toast without overwhelming the fruit.
Palate: Full-bodied and generous, with concentrated dark berry flavours at the core. The palate has a smooth, rounded feel, supported by soft, refined tannins and enough freshness to keep the richness in check. Cedar, spice and subtle oak add complexity through the mid-palate.
Finish: Smooth and persistent, leaving a lingering impression of dark berries, cedar and gentle spice.
- Food Pairing : The full-bodied structure and gentle tannins of the Landskroon Cabernet Sauvignon 2025 make it a natural match for hearty, savoury dishes. Try it with a grilled or braaied sirloin steak, beef burgers with mature cheddar, slow-cooked beef or lamb, or a rich mushroom and thyme pasta. Venison also works particularly well, with the wine’s dark fruit complementing the meat while its tannins provide enough structure to stand up to the dish. Mature cheeses are another easy match, particularly when the wine is served alongside a cheeseboard after dinner.
