Kranskop Muscadel Natural Sweet 2025 (500ml)
Kranskop Wines is situated in the Robertson Wine Valley in the Breede River Valley, an area particularly well suited to producing expressive, naturally sweet wines. The estate is committed to producing wines in small volumes, with a strong focus on careful vineyard management and traditional winemaking. Kranskop is also a member of the Biodiversity & Wine Initiative, reflecting its emphasis on responsible farming and protecting the natural environment around the vineyards. The estate produces a dedicated Muscadel Natural Sweet alongside its range of dry wines. The Kranskop approach is deliberately hands-on and traditional. The cellar is particularly known for its use of traditional basket presses, allowing gentle control over extraction during pressing. For the Muscadel Natural Sweet 2025, the wine is presented in a 500ml bottle, making it a natural choice for serving with dessert or enjoying in smaller pours.
Colour: Bright golden straw with a warm amber hue.
Nose: Fragrant aromas of ripe Muscat grape, peach and apricot lead into honey, orange blossom and subtle dried-fruit notes. A gentle floral character gives the wine freshness despite its sweetness.
Palate: Luscious and naturally sweet, with flavours of ripe peach, apricot, honey and sweet citrus. The wine has a generous texture, while refreshing acidity keeps the sweetness lively rather than cloying. Its aromatic Muscat character remains prominent throughout.
Finish: Long and sweet, with lingering apricot, honey, ripe grape and floral notes.
- Food Pairing : Kranskop Muscadel Natural Sweet 2025 is best enjoyed alongside desserts that have enough richness to match its sweetness. Try it with a baked cheesecake, crÚme brûlée, fruit tart, poached peaches or a South African-style milk tart. Its ripe fruit and honeyed sweetness also make it a lovely partner for a cheese board featuring blue cheese or other salty, creamy cheeses, where the contrast between sweetness and saltiness brings out the wine's freshness.
- Drink before: Cellaring potential: 3â5 years, with the potential to develop additional honeyed and dried-fruit character with careful cellaring.
