Inchgower is a traditional Speyside distillery near Buckie, Scotland, founded in 1871 and now part of Diageo’s portfolio. Although much of its production supplies blended whisky, rare single malt bottlings like this 12-year-old give enthusiasts a taste of its delicate, coastal-influenced character.
Nose: The finish in a Sauternes cask brings a layered bouquet of lemon preserve, green grapes, soft honeyed notes and ripe apricot, with gentle sweetness and a hint of waxy malt.
Palate: Rich and concentrated, the palate often shows dried fruit and citrus, with butterscotch and subtle floral elements. The influence of the sweet wine cask tends to add depth and complexity without overshadowing the malt.
Finish: Long, gently sweet and fruity, with lingering honeyed and orchard fruit flavours that taper into a warm, satisfying close.
