Glengoyne 12yr Highland Single Malt
Whisky : Scottish
Description
Glengoyne Distillery, set where the Scottish Highlands meet the Lowlands at Dumgoyne, has been producing Highland single malt whisky since 1833, remaining family-inspired and traditional in its approach. Uniquely, Glengoyne never peats its barley and dries it with clean Highland air rather than smoke, allowing the malt’s natural sweetness and grain character to shine. The 12-year expression epitomises the house style: slow distillation for smooth refinement and careful wood selection to build depth of fruit, spice and oak richness without overwhelming intensity.
Colour: Rich golden amber with a warm glow.
Nose: Bright citrus notes of lemon zest and honeyed orchard fruit open first, followed by gentle coconut oil and delicate dried oak. Subtle baking spice and mellow vanilla hint at deeper complexity.
Palate: Smooth and approachable, with flavours of toffee apples, shortbread and gentle spice. Hints of ginger and orange peel play alongside the sweetness from sherry-seasoned oak and a soft vanilla-citrus interplay from bourbon influence.
Finish: Clean and well-balanced, the finish leaves a light echo of oak warmth and a whisper of spice that lingers just long enough to keep the dram engaging.

Glengoyne 12yr Highland Single Malt
- Food Pairing : Glengoyne 12yr’s elegance and gentle oak influence make it versatile at the table and in moments of relaxed sipping. Neat in a whisky glass, it warms the palate with orchard fruit and honeyed notes - perfect for quiet evenings or post-dinner reflection. Pair it with rich cheeses like mature cheddar or aged gouda to harmonise the malt’s sweetness with savoury depth. Dark chocolate (70 % cacao) or caramel-drizzled desserts also complement the smooth fruit and spicy hints in the whisky, while roast nuts or smoked almonds make a simple snack partner that echoes the oak character without overwhelming the dram.
- Drink before: The whisky is designed for immediate enjoyment and is at its best within the first year or two after being opened.
